Paulie came home last night with this spectacular blooming poppy! I love them, even though they are orange, which is not my favorite color. There is just something about this majestic bloom that makes me smile. I think I recall seeing them grow wild as a child and then reinforced with the scene in A Room with a View where they made love in the field of poppies... it's more romantic to me than red roses. Do you hear that, Flower Industry, make poppies available for delivery to your loved ones! I would certainly enjoy an abundant bunch of brilliantly colored poppies on my desk.
