Admittedly, I am a lucky girl - this morning Paulie had some appointments and I got treated to a Vanilla Bean French toast with fresh strawberries and there was even enough whipped cream left for a little decadence.
Recipe:
Recipe:
- Sesame coated Italian bread, sliced 1/4 inch or thicker
- 2-3 eggs, depending on how much French toast you are planning on making
- 1/4 cup milk - use your preference - 2% or whole, I would NOT recommend skim but you can also use Almond or Soy as well
- 1/2 a Vanilla Bean cut length wise and scrapped (the seeds with a sharp paring knife)
Use a non-stick frying pan if possible, a pat of butter melted. Mix all ingredients in a shallow wide bowl, dunk bread slices till each side is nicely coated but not soaked! You'r making French Toast, not Bread Pudding... Fry to desired crispy/done texture, serve warm with fresh sliced strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream. Paulie likes his with butter and syrup instead. Have leftovers? A slice of ham and cheese and another quick toast is almost like a Croque Monsieur without the deep frying.
