Simple Project Each Day in September - Day 4

Garlic carnage, just kidding, but it is all the skins removed from 5 heads of garlic

Peeled cloves are stored in a screw lid container, from #DollarTree, in the fridge and can easily be grabbed for meals this month. You can break down the garlic further by picking out those tiny mild ones into Garlic Butter or shopping a bunch in a mini food processor and placing them in a small baby food container jar (or other small recycled glass jar) and top with your favorite oil - grapeseed, olive, peanut, sunflower.  This will provide you not only shopped garlic but also flavored oil that can be used in vinaigrettes or to sear some fresh fish. One hour of work will save me time each meal that includes garlic.

    1. Lorrie,
I find it strangely therapeutic to unwrap each of those little cloves.

  2. I don't mind doing the grocery shopping at all, what I don't enjoy if getting it home and chopping, washing, getting items in jars or laying them out on a cookie sheet to freeze it before bagging. Now another to prep :) great idea and I know, just like the rest, after the prep is finished, the rest of the week I am so happy!!!

    1. Barb,
Paulie and I split the jobs - he shops off my list and I put things away when he gets home. There are a few things that I do as prep - wrap herbs in paper towels and place in sealed bags, remove all fruit from plastic bags, portion bulk proteins for multiple meals, put dry goods in countertop containers... ect. I don't mind doing this part and he doesn't mind the shopping (which I HATE!).
