Our meal tonight, Sheppard’s Pie with mushrooms, corn and sour cream Yukon Gold mashed potatoes. This is the first time I've made this since Tony passed away. I just could not bring myself to make this meal because this was the last dinner we shared. I will never forget the image of Tony standing at my front door, his pants undone, rubbing his full belly with leftovers in his hand and a grin from ear to ear on his beautifully happy face. We told each other I 'love you' planned our next week’s Sunday supper and said good night. That was the last time I saw my friend of 19 years....I've missed him every day. This will make its way to my Recovery Journal, one step at a time towards healing.
Hi Natasha. Your meal looks wonderful. Sweetie, I'm so sorry for your loss. I too have lost a loved one very close to me and it still hurts to this day. I'm also doing a "Healing Journal". I'm not posting it on my blog because it's too personal. I will keep you in my prayers. Take care, JennyReplyDelete
Thank you for your sweet words. Loss is lasting when it's close to you. I'll be posting my Week 2 on Your Paper Pantry of my entry in the Recovery Journal.
Hi Natasha, your dinner looks great! I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I also lost someone very close to me. I lost my son from sids he was only 1 month old but it still hurts everyday. I also have a journal which I just started and it has helped me cope.ReplyDelete

I am sorry for your loss... the sense of smell is our strongest memory trigger so it's no wonder we remember our loved ones in association with food.
